Sometimes a consumer has in their minds that Big names are better. 

Their reasoning? They think : they are nationally known, I can trust the employees they hire, their pricing will be fair, they have an established business. While all of these MAY be true statements, there are also falsehoods that come along with them. Many National chains are franchises. Which means they pay fees to buy an area of the brand name. Often times it also means that the actual owner is not involved in day to day operations. It could also mean that certifications in industries are not met, background checks are not performed and in the service industry, it also means that they work on a commission base. What does that mean to you? That means in order for the technician that services your home to make money, he/she has to sell you extras. Remember that $5.95 a room carpet cleaning coupon you have? In order to get your carpets “really” clean, it is now going to cost you $75 per room (or more), or maybe you are buying extras you truly do not need. Sometimes you feel like you “have” to pay the extras to get them out of you house (fear).

Using a small business (inadvertently referred to as a ‘mom and pop’) makes YOU an investor. It is because of YOU we can stay in business. You can be confident, in most cases, employees are certified in their industries, can offer you fair prices and perform background checks on employees. Not only that but MOST times, small businesses will not even hire someone they would not want in their own home. You also keep monies in the local economy, you create jobs locally, you by word of mouth are a small business owners BEST advertising, all those things are impacts YOU make by choosing small businesses. Small businesses offer personalized detail to t customer, and don’t be fooled by their small size, they can handle ANY size job or they should at least they will be honest enough to tell you if they can’t.
